Client / Server
The client /server model is a distributed application structure that partitions tasks or workloads between the providers of a resource or service, called servers, and service requesters, called clients. We primarily use Linux Servers, which are well known for their capabilities, stability and robustness and daily global influence (i.e. Facebook, Google (Search, Plus & Android amongst others)) and strengths. With Linux it is possible to easily share resoruces with Windows, Apple and Linux workstations without compromising security or usability.
Impulse Computer Services has been implementing SUSE Enterprise and OpenSUSE Linux Servers since 2007 as a replacement for Novell Netware. OpenSUSE is the makers' choice for sysadmins, developers and desktop users.
Linux Servers Features:
- Centralization of control
Access, resources and integrity of the data are controlled by the dedicated server so that a program or unauthorized client cannot damage the system. This centralization also facilitates task of updating data or other resources.
- Samba 4
Samba allows you to easily and securely interoperate in the Microsoft Windows environment. SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 and OpenSUSE Leap 42 includes support for the latest version of Samba 4, which provides better integration with Windows Active Directory Domains.
- Security standards compliance
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 GA was successfully certified after Common Criteria Certification at EAL4+. In addition multiple cryptography security modules are validated to fulfill the requirements of FIPS 140-2. Those modules are OpenSSL, OpenSSH client and server, Strongswan (IPSec-based VPNs), the Kernel Crypto API, Mozilla NSS (Level 2) and libgcrypt. Certified security modules (packages) can be installed from the "Certification Module".
- Enhanced YaST Installer
Improve resiliency and automate processes right from installer stage using auto update of code with the powerful administration tool YaST (Yet another Setup Tool). YaST gives you the capability to customize your system quickly during and after the installation. YaST is now written in Ruby so it's open and more easily customized.
- VMware Tools Integration
VMware drivers and tools (open-vm-tools) are now fully supported and integrated into SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 in an all-in-one package with their performance fine-tuned.
- Virtualbox Tools Integration
Virtualbox software, drivers and tools are now fully supported and integrated into SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 and openSUSE Leap 42 in an all-in-one package with their performance fine-tuned.
- RAID Storage Solutions
- Backup Servers
- etc.
We also implement Microsoft Windows Servers since Windows NT Server 3 & 4.
As workstation operating systems we generally implement Microsoft Windows 7 and / or Windows 10 Professional.
Another related architecture we frequently use in combination with our client / server model is known as peer-to-peer, because each host or application instance can simultaneously act as both a client and a server. A typical example of this is the implementation of network printers.
The hardware, software and services we provide have proven themselves in the day to day environment. We believe that our services should be an asset to your company allowing you to reach your goals. Our goal is to carefully select products and services with very specific specifications to suite your present needs, but also caters for future expansion.
Some of the computer brands which we support include the following:
- Supermicro
- IBM
- Hewlet Packard
- Lenovo
- DELL
- Proline
- Acer
- Samsung
